Vasileios Melissianos

Infrastructure Engineering

Vasileios (Vasilis) Melissianos holds a degree in Civil Engineering with a major in structural engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), an MSc. in Analysis and Design of Earthquake Resistant Structures (NTUA), and a PhD from NTUA. He has worked as a site engineer in construction projects within refineries and thermal power plants, focusing on construction site management and implementation of quality assurance systems for health and safety. Vasileios has also extensive experience in structural inspection of steel structures. He has worked as a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for a Swiss consulting firm, specializing in structural and operational risk assessment of critical infrastructure. Vasileios’ research focuses on the seismic risk assessment of structures and industrial infrastructure, using nonlinear analysis methods, detailed finite element modeling, and probabilistic methods.

Vasileios is affiliated with the Institute of Steel Structures NTUA (The Lambda Lab research group) as a Senior Researcher and has participated in several national and EU-funded research projects that concluded in several publications in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He is now Managing Partner of RUBIQ Consultants L.P.

Vasileios has been awarded the prestigious 2024 ASCE State-of-the-Art of Civil Engineering Award for his work on buried pipelines subjected to tectonic rupture.
